If you owned only a Mac.
If you bought Parallel Desktop 8 to test (or enjoy) Windows 8 OS on your OS X.
If you are going to develop Windows Phone 8 app on that VM, and need to test your application on Windows Phone emulator, and found everything failed.
This guideline is for you and so for me.
I tried to search around, almost suggest to tried VMWare Fusion 5+ which support ‘workaround’ to work with Microsoft’s Hyper-V to run that Windows Phone 8 emulator.
But for me, I purchased Parallel Desktop 8 with love, and plan to use it for a long time. No need to try on VMWare Fusion, even if it works. (because that means I have to buy one more app). But almost reference at the moment point out to use VMWare Fusion instead. So I believe there’s better way to make Parallel Desktop work with Hyper-V, but I think it will come in next version.
These are solutions:
- Running Windows Phone 8 Emulator on Mac OS X
- this Parallel’s KB, and follow the guideline.
- A good post on Nokia Developer Forum
Each point to the similar instruction, I added another 2 links if the first one is not work for you.
I noted this before I’m going to follow the instruction. Updated following.
Noted: Someone on Stackoverflow.com pointed out that he has no problem to test app with ‘real’ Windows Phone 8 device. So you should not get any problem with testing your app on Parallel Desktop 8.
